Columbus DanceCentre is currently one of the largest dance studios in Columbus, offering quality dance instruction in a variety of styles. The studio specializes in Ballroom and Social dancing for adults and Dancesport for children. Classes in performing arts such as Ballet, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Jazz, Break-Dance, Belly Dancing, Piano, Guitar, Violin, Voice, Theater Art and Drama are also available. The center is directed by Svetlana Iskhakov, one of the top US and world professional Dancesport dancer, USA representative to the World Professional Championships, and Ohio Star Ball Champion.


Svetlana have been in the dance business for 25 years. Just over 7 years ago, she and her dance partner Igor opened the first dance studio in Gahanna, and since then, the Columbus DanceCentre has become a real “home away from home” for many Columbus area residents. The extended reach of the studio now offers more opportunities for the residents of the Columbus area to experience the wonderful world of dancing, music and arts.
Those who are unfamiliar with dancing may not realize all of the benefits that it provides, but as any devoted dance student knows, dancing can change the lives of all those it touches.
Ballroom dancing is “Mind Massaging Movement”. The body maintains the movement, while the mind is occupied with memorizing steps and directing the progress of the dance. This coordination keeps both the mind and the body active and healthy.
Dancing brings harmony to people’s lives, helps alleviate stress and depression by providing something fun to do, and teaches discipline and self control. However, dancing is not only about learning steps; it is also learning to understand and appreciate the body and the way it moves. Dancing greatly improves body poise and posture. Dancers can often be recognized simply for their appearance of confidence, elegance, and grace. Many dance students report an increased sense of confidence after just a few lessons. Dancing is also excellent physical exercise, benefiting the joints and the heart, and assisting in weight management. It is a great addition to most fitness programs.

Dancing can be a great hobby for the whole family, but it is especially a great way for parents to spend quality adult time together. Dancing brings couples emotionally closer to each other as they gain a sense of accomplishment when the two of them learn to move as one. It is a great way to bring fun and romance back to a relationship, as after many years together these important things can fade. Fortunately, dancing can be ***y and sensuous even for beginners.
Another marvelous thing about dancing is that it can be done at any age. At the Columbus DanceCentre the youngest student is only 3 years old, and the oldest one is 89. One can participate in ballroom dancing at various skill levels from novice to compe***ion level, so there is always something new to learn. Professionally trained instructors will guide you each step of the way, no matter what type of dancing you wish to learn.
Last but not least, dancing is a great social activity that provides an opportunity for everyone to participate and share in a fun community, where one can interact with others and make new friends.
Along with the best quality dance instruction in town, Columbus DanceCentre offers a place for people to come and dance together in a fun atmosphere. Studio parties are held every Friday night. Many people work long hours, and aren’t able to get out and enjoy themselves during the week, so the Friday Night Parties at the Columbus DanceCentre are a great way to get out of the house and blow off steam at the end of a long week. Studio parties provide a non-smoking, alcohol-free environment, lots of fun, plenty of dancing, and a good opportunity to make friends and find dance partners.
The Columbus DanceCentre also holds holiday parties and other special events throughout the year. One of the most popular types of parties held at the studio are those involving various nationalities. These parties feature delicious ethnic cuisines, fabulous costumes, and fancy décor. The studio is planning a Summer Show Case in summer, which promises to be a blast, so if you haven’t been to the Columbus DanceCentre yet, it’s a great time to come.
Although dance & music instruction, are the main focus of the Studio, Columbus DanceCentre also offers other services. The facilities are available for rent for all types of events such as weddings, bat/bar mitzvahs, corporate and private parties.
