ELISA MONTE made her professional debut dancing with Agnes DeMille in a revival of Carousel at age eleven. Monte founded her own company following early training at the School of American Ballet and fifteen years as a professional dancer – eight as principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. Monte’s first choreographic work, Treading, (1979) defined her as an important innovator and contributor to contemporary dance. Her signature style, recognized as daring, intense and passionate is classical and highly athletic. Rooted in sensuality and controlled, sustained energy, Monte’s work is notable for its expansive range of movement, which refuses stylistic conformity. Ms. Monte has choreographed over 30 works danced by Boston Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, San Francisco Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Ballet Gulbenkian of Portugal, Teatro alla Scala, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, North Carolina Dance Theater, the Batsheva Dance Company of Israel the PACT Contemporary Dance Company of South Africa and Philadanco.

The workshop is in two parts.
Technique: 10am - 11:30am
(drop in classes are permitted)
Repertory: 11:30am - 1pm
(drop in classes are not permitted. Students must take full week)

Full Workshop: $170
Technique Only: $90
Repertory Only: $90
Single Class: $20

Please Note: Elisa Monte will be holding an audition at Peridance on Saturday, June 6th, from 12:30pm - 2:00pm.
